    Secondary Computer Science

A fundamental understanding of computing enables students to be not just educated users of technology, but the innovators capable of designing new computers and programs to improve the quality of life for everyone. It is not an exaggeration to say that our lives depend upon computer systems and the people who maintain them to keep us safe on the road, at sea and in the air.

The course offers trainees opportunities to develop their professional competence, skills and understanding in this area. The philosophy of teaching the subject will be explored and supported by working with young people during lessons and training days.

Trainees’ will need to have good communication skills and be prepared to teach through the 11-16 age range with the possibility of Post 16 teaching. It is inevitable that some aspects of the subject will require further development in skills and knowledge, but that will be addressed as part of the training plan throughout the year.
